Welcome to The Me & You Crew site. I am happy you decided to visit and learn more about our project. As I write this note, it's hard to believe this vision has become a reality... a real website that I can explore with my mouse... a real book that I can read with my son... real stories that bring forth issues that are sometimes hard to talk about with our children, and for that matter with each other.
This dream was born out of my desire to create a way for young children to start learning the essential the skills of being a person a fine person. Having a young son, I've noticed there is a lot of focus on teaching our kids ABC's, 123's and other skills that prepare them for school and acquiring knowledge. But few tools can I find that introduce and emphasize the life skills I most want for my child and yours... the fundamental building blocks to living a life full of love and meaning.
After all, those book smarts are great, I hope my son makes lots of progress in that area, but all that is useless to him unless he knows how to treat others. For a truly successful life, he needs to learn how to love and be loved, how to respect and earn respect, how to see another's heart, how to handle his emotions in a useful way, how to look within for approval, how to believe in something bigger than himself, how to contribute to the world of which he is a part.
As human beings, we are connected in an inextricable way. We MUST have one another to experience joy, peace, and comfort in this life. We need not only to give of ourselves, but to openly receive what others have to give in return. We have infinite potential to love and be loved in this life, because we have first been loved. We have unlimited resources for creativity and joy through others and through our Creator. These are the primary things I want my son to know. Beyond the book knowledge, beyond his natural talents, beyond worldly success, he must first connect to others, to himself, and to his God.
The Me & You Crew vision is my way of offering my child and yours, exploration into these intangible yet essential issues of being a person. The talented illustrator, Amanda Faubus, who brought these characters to life echos my words to you here. We are both so grateful to have the opportunity to work on this project for you. We are thankful you've come and we hope you and your children will enjoy The Crew as much as we enjoy bringing them to you!< /p>
With Love,
